About this project
The Bard College AppleDB grew out of the Winter Session projects of 2017 and 2018. It is the end result of several hundred person-hours spent digitizing the information contained in an early 20th century reference text on New York State apple cultivars, Spencer A. Beech’s The Apples of New York. Through the hard work of parsing and organizing Beech's work by both years' teams, it has been made both more accessible and more useful to the public in general, and apple-lovers in particular.
