Esopus Spitzenburg

This variety was an early settlers' apple and found with earliest grafted stocks. Its weaknesses are that it is susceptible to disease and is fickle in bearing. It also is regarded as Thomas Jefferson's favorite apple. It is classified in the Baldwin apple group.
