Considered to be "one of the finest fruits of the season; frequently preferred to a fine pear." Good for the table and for stewing. Color is a dull red, slightly streaked and faintly spotted, but in the sun is a "lively red, blended with a rich yellow." Grows well in sandy soil and produced abundant juice."
